Leadership Development By Process
Duration:
3 Days
Through this learning and growing experience, you begin building the skills need to be a leader who attracts and develops followers. If you take this course with others from your organization, you’ll develop a unique group that works effectively together and has a deep loyalty to your clients, your organization, and to each other. This focus is based on research that is summarized in the Adult Learning in Cohort Groups an ERIC Practice Application Brief written by Susan Imel in 2002
(http://www.calpro-online.org/eric/docs/pab00033.pdf)
Quoting from this Brief: “Cohorts are usually defined as groups of students who enroll at the same time and go through a program by taking the same courses at the same time, a process that is sometimes referred to as lock step (e.g., Chairs et al. 2002; Reynolds and Hebert 1998). A cohort is much more than a structure, however (Norris and Barnett 1994). It is a tight-knit, reliable, common-purpose group (Drago-Severson et al. 2001, p. 15) that has foundations in group dynamics, adult development, and adult learning theory (ibid.; Nesbit 2001; Norris and Barnett 1994).”
To begin building a common language around communication, management, consulting, selling, buying, customer service, relationships, teaming, and leadership, two profiles from Inscape Publishing (www.inscapepublishing.com) are used:
- DiSC® Personal Profile
- Team Dimensions Profile
Additional profiles that could be incorporated in addition to these are:
- Time Management
- Diversity
Note: If these profiles are completed online prior to this training, attendees must complete them at least five business days before the training. During the period of time between completion and training, our facilitators would review the results and refine their delivery strategies for the session – seating, teaming, potential conflicts, learning styles, etc.
