Professional Training Certification

Training is important in business today because any organization can only be as successful as their employees. Training is one the things that help employees to succeed on the job. Of course, this training may take many forms – ESSP, Knowledge Management, facilitated sessions, coaching/mentoring, online, CD-ROM, self or group study, formal or informal. Regardless of the form, each employee must receive effective training in technology, business, and “core” skills such as customer service, communication, and leadership.

The International Board of Certified Trainers (IBCT) offers this five-day workshop to all who wish to develop the skills and knowledge needed to attain, and retain, IBCT certification. Facilitated by Certified Trainers from The Lausanne Institute, this highly interactive workshop allows the candidate to demonstrate and practice his or her training knowledge and skills. This workshop is organized into seven modules. Each module deals with a different aspect of the training process, the training environment, training delivery, and training development.

Upon successful completion of this workshop, you are tentatively approved for IBCT certification. Upon approval of your formal IBCT Application by the Governing Board, you will be fully certified.

Expected Outcomes:
Upon completion, participants should be able to:

  • Apply the concepts of effective training
  • Set and link learning goals with performance objectives
  • Train the adult learner based on different learning styles
  • Appropriately motivate an adult learner
  • Use appropriate methods to evaluate learning and track application
  • Design a training session
  • Utilize training activities and exercises for greatest impact

Audience:
This program is for anyone responsible for the development of training materials. Due to the complexity of the content and the activities used, it is strongly recommended that the class size be limited to maximize outcomes.

Prerequisites:
  • Presentation skill basics
  • Word processing and presentation software

Structure:
This program is highly interactive and intense. Attendees must develop training materials for a subject of their choosing. Alternatively, the class, or smaller groups, may be formed to work on a project. Regardless of the approach, the goal is to make each person actively participate in the complexities and steps related to training development. During the final class session, each individual or team will deliver a 15-minute segment of his or her final materials. This workshop also works well for development teams. It gives them a chance to work together in a creative but safe environment.

Delivery options include:

  • Five consecutive days the same week or split over two weeks
NOTE: The IBCT offers a five consecutive day certification program. Please see the Certification Training Schedule at http://www.ibct-global.com/.
  • Five days spread over several weeks or months with interactive instructor support
  • Single or multiple days on specific modules or combined modules
  • Two days together, multiple web-based sessions, interactive instructor support, and then back together for the final presentations and wrap-up session

In all delivery situations, Dave Finley, your instructor, will be available for coaching in the evenings and between these sessions. Dave is a Certified Instructor with an MS in Instructional Design and Communication.
